The NNNG welcomes the Department of Health Hospital Food Standards Panel Report.
Liz Evans, Chair of the NNNG said ”We have always been strong advocates of good nutrition being paramount to recovery in hospital patients. We hope that Trusts take this report to heart and make every effort to implement the recommended standards as well as showing a strong commitment to improving the quality of food to patients , staff and visitors. Food is still seen by many organisations as being very much a hotel service. However it is a fundamental part of care and it is the responsibility of clinical staff as well as caterers to ensure that patients in their care have access to food when they need it and help if necessary as recommended in this report”.
